Chino Basin Water Conservation District Division 1 Board Member "Kati The Water Lady your Common Sense Candidate"

Vote for Kati who has a demonstrated history of protecting your water supply with her 33 years of Water Engineering & Policy Experience.

my POLICY PRIORITIES are:

1. SPEND YOUR PROPERTY TAXES WISELY

Creating COMMON SENSE WATER POLICY that save taxpayers money by implementing fiscally responsible business practices and efficiencies.

2. PROTECT YOUR WATER SUPPLY

By implementing and advocating good policy that will keep your water both safe and reliable.  I have a history of creating new local water supplies (ie. recycled water) and advocating to protect your existing groundwater recharge potential.  Our groundwater basins provide 70% of our water supply.  I also want to create policy that will build the necessary storage and reliability infrastructure along the State Water Project, which is 27% of our current water supply.

ABOUT KATI

Community Volunteer

Kati has served on many water and community boards since 1999.  These include Chino Basin Water Conservation District (CBWCD), Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA), Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority, Chino Basin Watermaster, Chino Basin Desalter Authority and Upland Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee in the past and currently at San Antonio Water Company, Pomona Valley Protection Association, West End Consolidated Water Company (WECWCo), Association of San Bernardino Special Districts, Upland Heritage, and Cooper Regional History Museum.  She has proven leadership skills as she has served as Board President of the CBWCD and IEUA for many years and is currently the Board Chair at WECWC and the Board Treasurer for Cooper Regional History Museum. She was awarded the Certificate of Recognition from the California Legislature's 41st Assembly District for the 2020 Woman of Distinction award for the City of Upland.

Education & Experience

Kati has a BS degree in Environmental Resources Engineering with a specialty in Water Quality in 1993 from Humboldt State University, a MS degree in Civil Engineering with a specialty in water resources in 1999 from UCLA, a MA degree in Policy Studies in 2026 from the University of LaVerne and is currently a Doctor of Public Administration student at the University of La Verne.   She worked as a Water Resources Engineer for the local waste water utility and water wholesaler, Inland Empire Utilities Agency, for 11 years from 1993 to 2004.  She worked on the first recycled water distribution system and groundwater recharge project.  She has over 30 years of experience working on water reliability projects and programs in the Chino Basin.

Over the last 26 years she began working in water policy in an elected capacity and changed directions from water resources engineering to the creation of water reliability policy at multiple regional water agencies.

Longtime Community Member

Kati has lived in the local area since 1993.  She moved here to work at the local wastewater and water wholesaler, Inland Empire Utilities Agency, as a water resources engineer.   After working as an engineer for 11 years she decided to devote time to her family and has worked as a small business woman since managing residential investments properties, serving as an elected official on water boards, and volunteering in the community for the nonprofits, Upland Heritage, Chaffey Community Cultural Center and the Cooper Regional History Museum.  She has been married to Craig for 25 years and has two children, Josh and Claire.
